FAQS
Yes. Serving on a GO serve team is more than just filling a role; it's a partnership of carrying out our mission as a church. We do ask everyone who serve on a GO serve team to commit to Great Oaks as a Mission Partner. To sign up for an upcoming Mission Partner Workshop, click here.
Some serve areas may require certain skill levels or past experience to begin serving right away (like Safe Team or Worship Team); However, most of our serve teams do not require any prior experience, and our leaders aim to equip you and set you up for success as you use your gifts to glorify God and build up the Church.
To best protect our congregation, we do run background checks on all volunteers who serve in high-risk areas or with minors at our church (GO Kids, GO Students, Safe Team, and for other select roles).
This may depend on your serve area - from once a month to multiple times a week. Talk to your team leader about how frequently you are able to serve.
Your spiritual growth matters deeply to us, and we have our volunteers commit to attend one service and serve at the other on Sunday mornings.
There are a few exceptions, such as teams that serve before service starts (Setup Team) or teams that are able to serve and attend the same service (Ushers or Production Team).
We schedule all of our teams through Planning Center Services. This is an app that you can download on your phone or view on a web browser to see your serving schedule, set your serving preferences & blockout dates, and more! Your team leader will send you an invite to Services as a part of your onboarding process. Your schedule can also be viewed in the Church Center App under "My Schedule".
