THE VISION & HEART
The church doesn't run on Sunday mornings alone; it runs on a thousand unseen details handled faithfully throughout the week. The Administrative Support team keeps the engine of ministry running smoothly, bringing order, organization, and care to the behind-the-scenes work that makes everything else possible.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
Every email answered, every form processed, every detail tracked is an act of service to the people of Great Oaks. When administration is done well, pastors can pastor, ministry leaders can lead, and the church can focus on its mission. Your gifts for organization and follow-through are no less spiritual than preaching. They're just as essential.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Assist church staff with administrative tasks such as data entry, communication, scheduling, and correspondence
Handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
Work independently and follow through on tasks without needing close supervision
Communicate proactively about capacity and deadlines
Serve on-site or remotely, depending on the need and your availability
THE VISION & HEART
Prayer is the engine of everything we do at Great Oaks. The Altar Ministry team comes alongside people in their most vulnerable moments during and after a service, in a moment of need, and points them to Jesus through the power of prayer.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
People don't always know how to put words to what they're carrying. When you pray with someone, you help them bring it to God. That is one of the most powerful things one believer can do for another.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Be available to pray with individuals during and after services as assigned
Coordinate with the Pastoral Team to assist in responding to prayer requests
Demonstrate spiritual maturity, discretion, and compassion
Keep all prayer conversations strictly confidential
Complete any recommended training provided by our Pastors
Maintain a personal, active prayer life outside of serving
THE VISION & HEART
Baptism is one of the most sacred moments in a believer's life. It is a public declaration that says, "I belong to Jesus." When you serve on the Baptism Ministry team, you get a front row seat to some of the most powerful moments Great Oaks experiences together.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
On Baptism Sundays, when someone steps into those waters, they're stepping into a new story. You help make that moment feel holy, dignified, and celebrated. You are part of the memory they'll carry for the rest of their lives.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Serve on Baptism Sundays during baptism services as scheduled
Assist believers before, during, and after their baptism with warmth and care
Help prepare the baptistry area and assist with logistics
Pray over and encourage those being baptized
Maintain a spirit of reverence and celebration
HE VISION & HEART
Coffee may seem simple, but what it represents is profound: hospitality, welcome, and the warmth of community. The Coffee Team creates an environment before and after service where people linger, connect, and belong.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
Some of the most important conversations happen over a cup of coffee. You're not just making drinks, you're creating the conditions for friendship, for prayer requests shared out loud, for people to find their place at Great Oaks.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Arrive early to set up and begin brewing before service
Serve guests with a warm and welcoming attitude
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked coffee area
Handle food and beverage service with care and hygiene standards
Assist with teardown and cleanup after service
THE VISION & HEART
Communion is where we slow down, remember, and reconnect with the heart of the Gospel. The Communion Team creates the conditions for the whole church to participate in this sacred act of worship together.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
What feels like logistics on the outside is actually an act of service and love. When you faithfully prepare and distribute communion, you help clear the path for every person in the room to encounter Jesus without distraction.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Arrive early on Communion Sundays (or other prep days as needed) to prepare communion elements
Serve elements to the congregation with intentionality and grace
Clean up and store materials after the service
Maintain confidentiality and care for the spiritual weight of this moment
Be reliable and consistent in your commitment
THE VISION & HEART
Everything you see, read, and experience as part of Great Oaks, which includes the graphics, the words, the videos, and social media posts, is shaped by people who believe that creativity is an act of worship. If you have a gift for design, writing, photography, video, or storytelling, this team is for you.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
The way we communicate reflects who we are and what we believe. Great creative work invites people in, tells our story, and points to Jesus. Your skills don't just look good; they open doors for people to encounter God.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Contribute your skills (design, writing, video, photography, social media, etc.) as needed
Collaborate with staff and other creatives to meet ministry needs
Be willing to receive direction and work within brand guidelines
Meet deadlines and communicate proactively about capacity
Bring excellence and heart to everything you create
THE VISION & HEART
Everything you see, read, and experience as part of Great Oaks, which includes the graphics, the words, the videos, and social media posts, is shaped by people who believe that creativity is an act of worship. If you have a gift for design, writing, photography, video, or storytelling, this team is for you.THE VISION & HEART
A well-maintained, clean, and functional space and property tells people they matter. The Facilities & Maintenance team keeps our church campus running so that every ministry can do what it does without interruption.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
When the lights work, the rooms are clean, the property landscaped,
and things are in order, people don't even notice, and that's the point. You create an environment where people feel cared for the moment they walk through the door. That is ministry.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Serve throughout the week and/or Sunday as projects and needs arise
Handle general maintenance (interior and exterior), lawn care, repairs, cleaning, and setup tasks
Communicate maintenance needs to church leadership
Work independently and responsibly with facility access
Be available for both routine tasks and occasional urgent needs
Be prepared for the weather. Heat, cold, and rain are all part of the job
THE VISION & HEART
Fellowship Groups are where the church moves from a crowd to a family. As a Fellowship Group Leader, you open your life (and often your home) to a small group of people who are doing life together, growing in their faith, and supporting one another through the highs and lows.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
Belonging changes people. A weekend service is powerful, but a group of believers who know your name, show up when things are hard, and pray with you through life is where transformation happens. You get to be the catalyst for that.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Lead a group that meets regularly (typically weekly or bi-weekly)
Facilitate discussion, prayer, and community within your group
Participate in leader training and stay connected to church leadership
Communicate group needs and pastoral concerns to your leader and/or Pastors
Model spiritual growth, consistency, and a heart for others
THE VISION & HEART
GO FAM exists to care for children and families in vulnerable places by mobilizing the church to step in with love, consistency, and support. Whether it’s standing in the gap for a child, supporting a foster family, or helping prevent families from entering the system, this ministry reflects the heart of God for the fatherless and the overlooked.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
There are children in our own communities who need safe homes, steady support, and people who will advocate for them. You may not be called to foster, but you are called to care. Every meal delivered, every prayer prayed, every hour given becomes part of a bigger story of restoration and hope. This is practical, tangible ministry that changes lives, including yours.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Support foster families with meals and care
Serve through prayer and intercession
Become a CASA advocate or certified babysitter
Explore fostering or kinship care
Engage in prevention opportunities like Don’t Go Along
THE VISION & HEART
You don't have to be a group leader to make your home a place of community. Host Homes open their space for Fellowship Groups or small church events, creating an environment where people can gather, connect, and belong.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
There is something powerful about being invited into someone's home. It communicates safety, trust, and belonging in a way that a meeting room simply cannot. When you open your home, you open your heart, and people feel it.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Offer your home on a regular or occasional basis for group gatherings
Provide a welcoming, clean, and comfortable environment
Coordinate details with the Fellowship Group leader or event planner
This role does not require you to lead or facilitate, just to host with hospitality
Cultivate young hearts to say yes to Jesus in every area of their lives.
Our Discovery Guides lead our Discovery Class in between services where people can discover more about Saying Yes to Jesus in Every Area of Our Lives here at Great Oaks Fellowship.
Role(s)
Set up the Discovery Room and be prepared to welcome registered and walk-in attendees for the class.
Get to know those attending, walk through the presentation, pray at the end, and leave space to talk through questions and next steps for attendees.
THE VISION & HEART
God has gifted every one of His people and sometimes those gifts don't fit neatly in a box. If you have a heart to serve but aren't sure where, or if you have a unique skill you'd love to offer to the church, we want to hear from you.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
The body of Christ needs every part. Some of the most impactful contributions to ministry come from people who said, "I don't know if this is useful, but here's what I have." Don't disqualify yourself. Let us figure it out together.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Share openly about your gifts, skills, passions, and availability
Be open to a conversation with a ministry leader about fit
Come with a servant heart and a willingness to be flexible
Trust the process and we'll work hard to find the right place for you
THE VISION & HEART
The experience of Great Oaks begins before anyone walks through the door. The Parking Lot Team is often the very first face people see, and that first impression sets the tone for everything that follows.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
A warm wave, a clear direction, a sense that someone is glad you came; that's what you provide. For a first-time guest who almost didn't come, the person in the parking lot might be the reason they stay.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Arrive before service to prepare and manage the parking area
Direct traffic and assist guests with parking in a friendly and efficient manner
Be prepared for the weather. Heat, cold, and rain are all part of the job
Stay alert and communicate with other team members
Represent Great Oaks with a smile and a servant heart
THE VISION & HEART
The Prayer Room at Great Oaks is a dedicated space of encounter, a place set apart for individuals to meet with God in stillness and prayer. Serving here means stewarding something sacred: an atmosphere of presence, peace, and intercession.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
Everything that happens at Great Oaks is sustained by prayer. The Prayer Room is the heartbeat behind it all. When you serve here, you're not just keeping a space open; you're holding a door for people to walk through and meet God.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Serve scheduled hours in the Prayer Room with consistency
Maintain the spiritual atmosphere through personal prayer and worship
Assist visitors who come to use the space
Help maintain the physical environment with cleanliness, ambiance, and order
Demonstrate spiritual maturity and a genuine heart for intercession
THE VISION & HEART
The SAFE Team exists so that every person at Great Oaks can worship without worry. This team operates quietly in the background, creating a secure environment where families can focus entirely on encountering God.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
People can't be present if they don't feel safe. When you serve on the SAFE Team, you carry a responsibility that most people will never see, and that's exactly the point. Your faithfulness protects the people we love.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Serve assigned shifts on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and church events as scheduled
Complete required safety training
Maintain situational awareness and de-escalation skills, such as the Power of Hello
Coordinate with team members and church leadership for protocols
Handle all situations with discretion, professionalism, and care
Background check required
THE VISION & HEART
Before anyone arrives, the Set Up Team has already been at work, transforming a space into a place where people can worship. This team makes the miracle of a Sunday and Tuesday service possible, one chair, table, and piece of equipment at a time.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
Our physical environment doesn't exist until we build it. You're not just setting up a parking lot, a building, or a room; you're building the stage for God to move. That matters.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Arrive early on Sundays and/or Tuesdays (or event days) to complete full setup
Work efficiently and collaboratively as part of a team
Learn and follow the setup plan for your assigned area
Handle equipment and materials with care
Commit to your scheduled role with reliability
THE VISION & HEART
Great Oaks comes alive in special moments, celebrations, outreach events, holiday services, and everything in between. The Special Events team is the crew that makes those moments beautiful, organized, and unforgettable. From decorating and setup to supporting event flow, this team brings the extra that turns a good event into a great one.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
Special events are often the moments people remember most, like the Christmas service that moved them to tears, the outreach that brought a neighbor through the door for the first time, the celebration that made someone feel truly seen. You help create those moments. That’s not decoration, that’s ministry.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Assist with decorating, staging, and creating environments for special church events
Help coordinate logistics before, during, and after events as directed
Work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers to execute the vision
Be flexible and ready to jump in wherever the need arises
Availability for events may vary seasonally and commitment is per event rather than weekly
THE VISION & HEART
Great Oaks requires space. If you have room on your property or access to storage, this is a unique and incredibly practical way to serve the mission of the church.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
Without storage, we can't set up. Without setup, there's no service. When you offer your space, you're holding a piece of the infrastructure that makes everything else possible. That's a real and meaningful act of generosity.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Offer available space to store church equipment and materials
Coordinate access with church staff for pickup and drop-off
Maintain security and care for the items stored on your property
Communicate any changes in availability with adequate notice
THE VISION & HEART
Teenagers are not the church of tomorrow; they're the church of today. The Student Ministry team walks alongside middle and high school students in one of the most defining seasons of their lives, pointing them toward Jesus when the world is pulling them in every other direction.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
A trusted adult in a teenager's life is one of the most powerful forces for good that exists. Your presence, consistency, and faith can literally change the trajectory of a young person's story.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Serve consistently in Student Ministry events, gatherings, and programming
Successfully complete a background check (required)
Participate in leader training and orientation
Build authentic relationships with students, not just programs
Communicate regularly with the Student Ministry leader about your students
THE VISION & HEART
Every great Sunday and Tuesday has to come to an end, and the Tear Down Team finishes it well. You're the final act of Sunday and Tuesday service, breaking things down so the space can go back to what it was in preparation for the week’s activities.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
Tearing down faithfully is a form of worship. It's unglamorous, it happens when most people have already gone home, and it's absolutely essential. You make it possible for us to do it all again next week.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Stay after services on assigned Sundays and/or Tuesdays to complete full teardown
Work quickly and efficiently as part of a team
Follow the teardown plan for your assigned area
Handle all equipment and materials with care during packing and loading
Be reliable, as the team needs everyone to finish well
THE VISION & HEART
Every element of the weekend experience from the sound, the lights, the video, and the livestream, all flows through the Tech & Production team. If you love A/V and have a passion to create engaging, worshipful, distraction-free environments for people to encounter Jesus, then this team is where you belong.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
When tech works well, worship flows freely. When it doesn't, everyone notices. Your skill and attention to detail clear the path for people to encounter God without distraction. That's not just technical work; it is ministry.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Serve in your area of skill: audio, lighting, slides, and live stream
Arrive early on assigned Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or other event days for soundcheck and setup
Participate in team training and communicate openly about learning curves
Set up, tear down, and maintain equipment, and escalate technical issues appropriately
Bring your best, as excellence in tech is an act of worship
Partner and work with the Worship Team to create a worshipful space for people to encounter Jesus

THE VISION & HEART
Ushers are the quiet backbone of a Sunday and Tuesday service, guiding people to seats, distributing materials, facilitating offerings, and keeping things running smoothly so the service can flow without a hitch.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
Order creates space for encounter. When people are guided with grace, and the service flows with intention, people can focus on what matters most: worshipping Jesus. You make that possible.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Arrive before services to receive briefing and prepare for your role
Guide attendees to seats with friendliness and efficiency
Assist with offering, communication cards, and handouts
Stay attentive and responsive throughout the service
Coordinate with the Welcome Team and other serving areas seamlessly
THE VISION & HEART
The Welcome Team - whether at the door, the welcome desk, or any other area - is the face of Great Oaks. You are often the first and last person someone interacts with on a Sunday morning or Tuesday evening, and those bookend moments shape everything in between.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
People decide in the first few minutes whether they'll come back. A genuine smile, a warm word, or a helpful answer to a question can be the difference between someone giving church one more try or never returning. You carry the ability to wow them.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Arrive before services to be in position and ready to welcome
Greet every person, first-time guests, and regular attendees alike, with warmth and intentionality
Be knowledgeable about church events, resources, and next steps
Serve with a team spirit, coordinating with ushers and other serving areas
Follow up on any connections or questions that arise
THE VISION & HEART
Worship at Great Oaks is more than music; it's an invitation for every person in the room to turn their heart toward Jesus. As part of the Worship team, you lead people on that journey through song, sound, and spirit.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU
Worship is often how people break through. When someone who walked in numb or distracted finds themselves singing with tears on their face, it's because God showed up and you helped create that space. That is sacred work.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Participate in rehearsals consistently and arrive fully prepared
Meet the Worship Pastor & shadow the Worship Team before joining
Demonstrate musical proficiency and spiritual readiness to lead
Carry yourself with humility, honor, and a servant’s heart; you're a worshipper first, a performer never
Grow in your craft and your walk with God simultaneously
Partner and work with the Tech/Production Team to create a worshipful space for people to encounter Jesus
Yes. Serving on a GO serve team is more than just filling a role; it's a partnership of carrying out our mission as a church. We do ask everyone who serve on a GO serve team to commit to Great Oaks as a Mission Partner. To sign up for an upcoming Mission Partner Workshop
Some serve areas may require certain skill levels or past experience to begin serving right away (like Safe Team or Worship Team). However, most of our serve teams do not require any prior experience and our leaders aim to equip you and set you up for success as you use your gifts to glorify God and build up the Church.
To best protect our congregation, we do run background checks on all volunteers who serve in high-risk areas or with minors at our church (GO Kids, GO Students, Safe Team, and for other select roles).
This may depend on your serve area - from once a month to multiple times a week. Talk to your team leader about how frequently you are able to serve.
Your spiritual growth matters deeply to us and we have our volunteers commit to attend one service and serve at the other on Sunday mornings.
There are a few exceptions, such as teams that serve before service starts (Setup Team) or teams that are able to serve and attend the same service (Ushers or Production Team).
We schedule all of our teams through Planning Center Services. This is an app that you can download on your phone or view on a web browser to see your serving schedule, set your serving preferences & blockout dates, and more! Your team leader will send you an invite to Services as a part of your onboarding process. Your schedule can also be viewed in the Church Center App under "My Schedule".
