Great Oaks Fellowship Mission Partners, join us on mission as we come together to serve others with the New York School of Urban Ministry (NYSUM).

FAQ

Short answer: We're going to New York City for a week of hands-on mission work over Spring Break 2027.

Full answer: March 8–12, 2027, our team will serve alongside NYSUM (New York School of Urban Ministry) - an organization with decades of experience mobilizing mission teams in one of the most diverse cities in the world. We'll be doing relational, hands-on ministry outreaches throughout the week.

Short answer: Anyone who calls Great Oaks home, including students 14+ with a parent or guardian.

Full answer: This trip is open to Great Oaks Mission Partners and anyone who considers Great Oaks their home church. Students 14 and older are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who shares their room and attends all ministry outreaches alongside them. Students younger than 14 are not able to participate at this time.

Short answer: $1,099 total, broken into three payments.

Full answer: The total cost is $1,099 per person and covers flights, ground transportation to and from LaGuardia Airport, lodging, most meals, and ministry materials. Payments are due in three installments:

  • $199 deposit at sign-up
  • $549 due October 1
  • Remaining balance due December 1.

Fees for checked luggage are not included — plan accordingly based on your airline's policy.

Short answer: No formal fundraising opportunities, but you're invited to reach out to family and friends for support!

Full answer: At this time, we do not have any formal fundraising opportunities planned for this trip. That said, we'd encourage you to reach out to family and friends to share with them your heart to engage in ministry in NYC and to be equipped to evangelize and step outside of your comfort zone. Feel free to share any of these resources in this process:

If you need help writing support letters, we can direct you to a few people who used to raise support as missionaries who might be able to help you too.

Short answer: All payments are non-refundable, so please commit prayerfully.

Full answer: Every payment goes directly toward securing travel, lodging, ministry materials, and other essential resources. Once it's paid, it cannot be returned. If you need to cancel or are struggling to make a payment, please contact Pastor Rob at missions@gofellowship.org as early as possible. Last-minute cancellations can significantly impact the trip's planning and ministry effectiveness, so we ask everyone to consider their availability and financial commitment carefully before registering.

Short answer: Flights, transportation, lodging, and most meals are in. Checked bags are on you.

Full answer: Your $1,099 covers round-trip flights, transportation between LaGuardia Airport and NYSUM, lodging at NYSUM's facilities, most meals during the week, and ministry materials. What's not included: fees for checked baggage and any meals that fall outside of NYSUM's provided meals. Come prepared with a little spending money for those gaps.

Short answer: Most meals are provided, but NYSUM cannot accommodate special dietary needs.

Full answer: NYSUM provides most meals throughout the week and offers a soup and salad bar as an alternative at each meal. However, they are not able to cater to specific dietary restrictions or allergies. There may be opportunities to go out in groups to local restaurants and grocery stores. If you have significant dietary concerns, reach out to Pastor Rob ahead of time so we can help you think through options before you commit.

Short answer: Register now and pay your $199 deposit here. (+ Sign up for Mission Partner Workshop if you're not a Mission Partner already).

Full answer: Ready to go? Register here. A $199 deposit is due at sign-up to hold your spot.
